The New Hampshire Cheesemakers Guild is an organized group of New Hampshire cheesemakers who share ideas and resources to increase consumer awareness of locally produced cheese products. The group joined forces with the NH Dept. of Agriculture, the NH Dept of Tourism and the NH Winery Association, to create a Wine and Cheese Trail that offers tourists and locals and opportunity to explore New Hampshire's vineyards and creameries. Recently this group has partnered with the Granite State Dairy Promotion, and will be developing their web presence at this location. Stay tuned for everything cheese!

New Hampshire Cheesemakers

aThe Sandwich Creamery
is tucked into a small valley at the northern edge of New Hampshire’s Lakes Region, an area through which tourists pass or stay seasonally.

The creamery was established in 1995 and now produces cow’s milk farmstead cheeses in the following varieties: aged cheddar, smoked cheddar, Caerphilly, Coulommier, Jersey Jack, and brie, as well as a variety of fresh soft cheese spreads.

All of our cheeses are made by hand in small batches using time-honored methods. As a small family business, we are committed to a product that helps people stay connected to their local farms.cted to their local farms.

We are proud to have the distinction of producing New Hampshire’s only Cheddar, and are happy to be listed in ‘The Great Cheeses of New England’.

Via Lactea Farm is a small, diversified farm located in Brookfield. In 1994 Andy and Jenny Tapper resurrected an abandoned 1798 homestead and pursued their dream of owning and operating a self-sufficient farm. They cleared land for gardens and pasture, renovated the house and built outbuildings and barns, and learned animal husbandry with a small menagerie of livestock and poultry.

As the farm grew their dream evolved and today the farm is home of Brookfield Dairy Goat Milk Products. With the milk from their herd of 30 dairy goats, Jenny produces a variety of goat milk cheeses, yogurt and raw milk in glass bottles in a licensed dairy plant. Brookfield dairy products are sold at the farm, farmers’ markets and local grocers and restaurants. The farm produces poultry, pork, chevon, fresh eggs and maple syrup, which are sold from their farm storefront. Andy also manages the farm woodlot and processes firewood for sale locally.

Boggy Meadow Farm  - Boggy Meadow is on the banks of the Connecticut River in Walpole, New Hampshire. It has been a farm for centuries and a dairy farm for as long as anyone can remember, but in the last few years we have started to make our own farmstead cheeses. Our cheeses are based on old Alpine recipes, and we use raw milk from the cows at Boggy Meadow Farm. The cheeses are made by hand twice a week in a barn across from the dairy parlor. The cheeses are all natural; we only use vegetarian rennet and the milk could not be fresher.

Landaff Creamery - Nestled in the foothills of the White Mountains, Landaff Creamery LLC, our small farmstead cheese company, produces Landaff Cheese, an authentic New Hampshire cheese based on a traditional Welsh recipe. Our cheese is made from the milk we produce at our dairy farm, Springvale Farms, located next door to the creamery. The Landaff Creamery LLC was established in early 2008 with the intention of creating a high-quality value-added product that would increase the sustainability of our farm and there-by preserving agriculture in our small town. We are a second-generation dairy farm and have been producing high-quality milk since the 1950’s. Throughout these pages we have included information about the intriguing history of Welsh cheese, a photo album to help you get to know us a little better, news articles featuring us and our cheese, and links to other interesting websites. We invite you to explore the pages of our website and get to know our cheese, our cows, and us.

Agape Homestead Farm, LLC
40 Rt. 16 B
Center Ossipee, NH 03814

We are Kevin and Janna Straughan of Agape Homestead Farm in Center Ossipee, N.H. The Farm began unofficially in 1984 when we began raising laying hens, a few meat birds and a couple of lambs. We wanted to eat healthier and to enjoy the “farm” atmosphere.

When we moved to our current location in 1997, we began milking goats – first two – then three and four, and so-on. Our oldest son was our goat shepherd, and did all the milking and most of the chores. As is typical of many farm ventures, we expanded to include sheep, turkeys, pigs, a couple of beef cattle, etc., and began selling the products of our efforts to help pay for the farm expenses.

In 2004, we “officially” registered our farm as “Agape Homestead Farm, L.L.C”, becoming a licensed milk and cheese dairy in the State of New Hampshire, along with a Class D kitchen license. Kevin and Janna began working almost full time on the farm. In 2007, our commercial kitchen license changed to a Class C, and we were able to produce jams and jellies, relishes, salsa, etc. in addition to the baked goods we were already producing.

We now deliver cheese to approximately 20 wholesale customers throughout he state and have an on-site farm store open 7a.m.-7p.m. 7 days a week on an “honor system”. We also attend the Wolfeboro Farmer’ market in the summertime.

We love the idea of being as self-sufficient as we can, while blessing others as much as possible. People have asked how we named our farm and what it means. “Agape” is a Greek word which stands for “God’s perfect unconditional love”; it is also the name of our food pantry ministry (“Agape Ministries”) so it seemed natural to name the farm that as well since it is only by God’s love, grace, and mercy that we are able to do what we do.

We invite you to stop by for a visit
